As a vocal consultant and coach, my main goal is to help a singer achieve authenticity in both style and vocal technique. If you think about the great artists of all time, the one thing that they all have in common is authenticity. They sound like no one else. Their style is like no one else's. Their ability to communicate the emotions they feel is undeniable; and after you’ve heard them sing a song, it’s hard to imagine anyone else singing that song. These are lofty goals, but I am convinced that moving in this direction will always lead a singer on a path toward being the best that they can be.
I use all the training and experience I’ve accumulated over the past twenty five years to guide vocalists on their path to success. I am a classically trained vocalist myself; and although I choose not to sing in the classical style, the technical training I received during my years of study has proven to be extremely valuable in maximizing my range, flexibility, and accuracy. By adapting the exercises that I use in my own vocal maintenance and continued development, I customize a practice and warm-up routine for each singer that is designed to make the most of their unique God-given talent. I also work with singers on their microphone technique for both live and studio performance. When it comes to developing a singer’s style, I feel that it is purely a matter of discovery. As a singer, you absolutely have to know who you are, what you want to say, and how you want to say it. Once a vocalist can answer those tough questions and combine those answers with solid vocal technique, confidence will translate directly into a style and a believability that you can hear, see, and feel every time they deliver a song. They are authentic.
